Duties and roles as Skidmore College’s official mascot (a thoroughbred racehorse named “Skids”) includes coordinating carefully curated appearances at select events with several departments throughout the college (including Athletics, Office of Advancement, Marketing and Communication, and Admissions) in conjunction with facilitating a warm, personable atmosphere while “in costume”. Other responsibilities include close collaboration and brainstorming to create content as “Skids” for Skidmore College social media outlets. 

As an Admissions Ambassador, roles and experience includes leading campus tours to prospective families and alumni (walking backwards!) in addition to hosting information sessions and fielding a variety of questions. Furthermore, duties also extend to being active on the official Skidmore College Discord Server as an Ambassador as well as participating in virtual “Ask-Me-Anything” sessions.

Responsibilities included active monitoring of pools and adjacent surfaces (including the deck and “Splash Pad”) to ensure patron safety in tandem with taking hourly chemical readings to guarantee compliant and safe operations. Further duties included assisting patrons with pool equipment or facility questions in conjunction with maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all ages, even aiding programming for “Y Camp” – The Y’s premiere youth camp program.
